Real Identity and forum manipulation

Post by lokuayya on Sat Feb 11, 2012 9:16 pm

forums have become tool for market manipulation to the dangerous levels .there are organized groups that use forums to manipulate.you may remember greg and chicken manipulation sometimes back.
the shares were sent sky high and forums partly responsible for that.
in the same time this is happening to pull down the shares and markets.
so it is high time to regulate the forums by regulators for malpractices like Bangladesh crack down on forum based manipulation.few forum manipulators were brought to law and in to books.
the admin should keep real identities of forum members .

in the other invest forum credit card number and phone number are registered so that it is somewhat controlled.the admin and key peoples real identity is known an published.

the regulators must examine the forum for manipulation.

While I too agree with you for some extent, in reality 99% dont want their real identities get exposed due to various reasons;
1) Ppl will know the portfolio values of others
2) There'll be threats from various parties
3) Some ppl will start buggin u too much
4) If u talk abt something with good intention and that becomes manipulated, u'll be the one to blame and in question Wink

What we want is not to penalize the forum members on a mishap by taking their personal information but to protect them on market drama that happens time to time..

There were some promotions, Yes.. must most of these got hammered with member participation, so even a new comer may get to know its promotion without much of an effort..

agree. what happened to the other invest forum earlier. a gang of people organized and promoted some shares to manipulate. and ultimately forum has to closed. but his time a gang a gang of people now get organized in this forum and do the opposite thing. They want market to crash and stock to get dirt cheap and then collect them. identify their intention is important. one guy said his wife has gone with another guy and still he want market to fall further.

the other forum maily promoted BFL and PCH. Both gave solid upside and now crashing breakneck speed. Now they try to promote a salt co. since it is a paid site and no much followers/subscribers in a downside market, they promoting certain articles in public post.

We retailers must play responsibly -collectively and act calm to come out of this 'terror' times. Personally i am dreaded to open the CSE site week starting tom as i am in considerable loss and stress. As i am trading from overseas this forum is very important to know ground pulse. i appeal everyone to post true - genuine facts and try to collectively rise for betterment of all.

genuine pulse is a different thing.some are overjoyed and some are in distress.those posts are innocent .
but organized and calculated manipulative acts must be identified as criminal acts and regulators should pay much attention to these manipulative practices.
we remember they set a target for certain shares and promoted until it is reached and then abandoned.
now the manipulators under various names set new low targets for the bottoms .
i think both acts are manipulative of nature.
these forums have big influence on market hence must be regulated.

I'm not sure about these forums having a big influence. Most of us here are retailers, among them many small. Some HNW people might post and follow here but they sure do not make decisions based on what's posted here. People like them can afford even private advisers who will be able to give a true and fair view.

Some here post promoting words but they would have absolutely no impact. Some post very convincingly to drive others to fall into that trap but lately the existing members have become more careful with such posts. But they cannot manipulate the market by posting here alone. There should be broker connections and a large amount of money+credit available to those who can.

I would like to produce some suggestions. Needs moderators, global moderators, Co-admin or admins response.

DUINVEST forum maintains 0% manipulation but they don't allow to mention about any share although it is required to shown in a post. So, posting becomes a hard thing because of this limitations.

BTW, these are my suggestions!

1. Immediately change the posts which contain 'promotions of counters'.
2.If someone point out a counter, the sentence"This is not a recommendation" must be added at the end of the post.
3.Don't allow to post posts which support and appreciate manipulation.
4.Delete topics which promote shares totally in the entire post.
5.Warn members who put prohibited things in posts.

Very Happy

Absolutely. Organized groups getting together to falsely identify bottoms must be punished.

There are loop holes in each rules. When u correct that loop hole a wise promoter or manipulator will found another way for his/her job. This is a continuos battle.

We have to keep the freedom of expression while implementing the rules. So this is not an easy bussiness.

So the reader has to be very careful and wise. This is the real practical world. There is no such a world that with full of ethics as well as forums. U have to live without being a foolish fish.
