Just want to make sure about dividends payments. If you buy a stock on the XD date you dont get the dividends right ?

But if you buy the day before dividends you get it right ?

YES. X has the meaning of expire or exclude.
so XD Date means date excluding dividends or expire date.

Same applies to any other types of Dates with a X prefix. eg: XR date

Also i have another question regarding XD-Dates

The following ATS msg was sent in the CSE

Pursuant to the allotment of new shares on 30th March 2011, the ordinary voting shares of the Bank have been indexed on 31st March 2011.
Please note that "XD" will not be flagged in the system for ordinary voting and ordinary non-voting shares of the Bank.

Just wondering if there are some trading platforms that indicate the XD flag for dividents etc. My brokers are bartleet, their system does not show any such flags ???

XD date belong to seller that means the buyer won't get benefit. The day before XD the buyer get dividend.

If the CDS message says they won;t put a XD flag it is common to all brokers and all software.
