As prices of prime apartments rise in Colombo, locals have been priced out of the sector, which is dominated by foreign investors, non-residents and wealthy locals, says top agent, JLL
Most prime apartment projects in the Sri Lankan city of Colombo are purchased by overseas buyers, non-residents and wealthy locals, says a leading agent.
The Sri Lanka property market has seen rising property prices since 2009, thanks to improved confidence in the investment market and Colombo, the largest city and the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, is leading the way, says JLL India......

Prices of property developers' shares are likely to rise much faster than the price of property itself. To protect myself against downside risks, I would pick companies that have (i) dividend yield >5% and (ii) P/B Ratio <1.

Hitachi Monorail System, the world’s prominent entity in establishing the Monorail system of transport, said it wishes to consider its contribution if a Monorail is to be established in Colombo.

The Hitachi Monorail System representative who accompanied Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on his Sri Lanka visit pointed out that the Monorail system is the most eco-friendly and efficient transportation system.

Appreciate your comments. but would infrastructure only make a city knowledge city??

Mono rails are just for tourists to see the city. not for transport people.
do we need such a thing in Colombo? or do we have more things to concentrate?

What we should do is, bring more investments to Sri Lanka, let the foreigners to buy lands/ apartments etc ( with less but clear restrictions).
Look at Singapore, how many billionaires live in Singapore?
give foreign citizens dual citizenship.... this would flow $ freely.

Most of all, punish the convicts and safe the innocent civilians.then
people will realize this is a safe place to live.

Singapore crime level is zero.
Strict rules, less corruption.

These are the basics. If there are no strong foundation, what will happen to the building??
