Sri Lanka's famous Mount Lavinia Chef Pabilis Silva's Grandson Chathura Silva's University of Sri Jayawardenapura Degree received before anybody in his Batch will be soon investigated under Bribery and Corruption and Higher Education Authorities will question it. And Parliament will also take the story soon whether Chathura Silva received Degree even without going for lectures amidst Publis approaching former MR Regime top politico to write a letter to University heads to issue him a degree.

Shame on Chef Pabilis Silva he was awarded Honorary title by President Sirisena recently.

The Investiture Ceremony of conferring National Honours on distinguished personalities, who rendered a noble service to the country and its advancement, held on Monday (20) at the Nelum Pokuna Theater, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

These awards were bestowed on the most distinguished persons who have made outstanding contributions to the country and its advancement.

At this ceremony, held after 12 years, the President presented national honours to 89 persons lauding their individual contributions in many spheres.

The highest honor conferred for exceptionally outstanding and most distinguished service to the nation was conferred on late Pandith Amaradewa.

The Sri Lanka Ranjana which is awarded to non-nationals for distinguished service of a highly meritorious nature to Sri Lanka in particular and / or humanity in general was awarded to Dr. Sarath D. Gunapala and Siddhartha Kaul.

Ten (10) Deshamanya awards were conferred in recognition of distinguished service of a highly meritorious nature to the nation. The awardees were Abbasally Akbar, Prof. Colvin Goonaratna, Dr. Devanesan Nesiah, Nandadasa Rajapaksha, Prof. Kingsley Muthumuni de Silva, Latha Walpola Mineka Presantha Wickramasingha, Prof. Priyani Soysa, Amaradasa Gunawardana and Tissa Devendra.

Nimal Padmasena, Prof. Errol Radcliffe Jansz, Prof.Lal Chandrasena, Prof. M. W. J. G. Mendis, Prof. M. M. R. Waas Jayasekara, Prof. Sarath Kotagama and Prof. Tissa Vitarana.

In addition, 22 Kala Keerthi awards, seven Sri Lanka Shikamani awards, ten Vidyanidhi awards, thirteen Kalashuri awards, two Sri Lankathilaka awards and two Veera Prathapa awards were conferred.

According to the act of the National Honours – 1986, the awardees of these national honours are selected out of the nominations presented by individuals and public organizations. The nominations are also inspected by an intellectual panel. Ninety persons were selected out of 426 applications forwarded for this year’s award ceremony.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Ministers were among those participated in this ceremony.

The investiture Ceremony of conferring national honours on distinguished personalities of the nation-the National Honours-2017 was held yesterday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

Eighty eight personalities who rendered a noble service to the country and its progress were bestowed with awards by the President at the ceremony.

The highest honour Sri Lankabhimanya was bestowed on late music maestro Pandit W.D.Amaradeva and the award was accepted by his wife Wimala Amaradeva. The award was conferred on Pandith Amaradeva in recognition of his most distinguished service to the nation.

Ten personalities including Prof. Colvin Gunaratne and popula singer Latha Walpola were bestowed with the Deshamanya award which is conferred in recognition of distinguished and meritorious service to the nation.

Deshabandu titular was conferred to nine personalities including Devanayagam Eeshawaran, Olympic medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe and renowned Chef Dr. Pabilis Silva.

Eleven personalities including Prof.Nimal Senanayake, Prof. Errol Radcliffe Jansz, Prof.Thissa Vitharana were awarded with the Vidyajothi award.

The Kala Keerthi honour was conferred on 22 persons including Edmund Ranasinghe, Dasa Hapuwalanage, Camillus Perera and Prof. Sunanda Mahendra. The Sri Lanka Sikhamini honour was conferred on seven personalities.

The Vidya Nidi honour was awarded to 10 personalities including Ahmed Mumtaz Masoon Cassim and Professor Siwalingam Sivananthan. The Kala Shuri title was awarded to 13 personalities including Prof.Praneeth Abeysundsra, Cathleen Jayawardana, Berty Gunathilake and Sumithra Rahubadda.

The Sri Lanka Thika honour was awarded to two personalities while the Weera Prathpa title was awarded to two personalities. The Sri Lanka Ranjana titular conferred to non nationals were conferred on two personalities, scientist Dr. Sarath Gunapala of the US and Siddhartha Kaul of India. This award is conferred in honour of distinguished service of a highly meritorious nature to Sri Lanka or to humanity in general.
