May i know the basis of this forecast for TAFL having strong fundamentals.

PE = 3.81 , EPS = 31/46 (based on last 4 qtrs)
book value = 110/=

01st Qtr 2017 EPS = 8/03.

Follow the chicken instead of wanting to be rich & following 'RICH' and ending up poor!

Hi Guys,

I looked at the maize price in SL which has a 70% weight on profitability of poultry companies. The prices have increased in 1Q 2017 against the preceding period 2016.

However, maize price of 2Q 2017 is lower than 2Q 2016. Please refer the following link.

http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=corn&months=60¤cy=lkr

This would be good indication of performance in poultry sector in 2Q 2017.

Good Luck

You have stated that maize price of 2Q 2017 is lower than 2Q 2016.

TAFL 2Q 2016 eps was 6/22. So allowing for the price change we can reasonably expect an eps of 7/= for 2Q 2017.
TAFL recorded an eps of 8/= for 1Q 2017. Hence, even if maize price does not come down the expected eps for 2017 may be around 29/=, resulting in a PE around 4 based on CMP trading at a substantial discount.

No need to teach me about these shares . I have sold BFL 400+ levels, TAFL 160/- levels. But I will not play with animal lives any more. I didn't see the reality when I was investing before on these shares. But I know now the pain of these innocent animals.
How ever I don't see much bullish factor on TAFL rather than its crowd behaviour. It should trade 95 levels based on market leader or peer in the comparative industries. So it wise to touch below 100/- if any interest but own on your risks. Government is going to have an agreement with India for agri products as well as increase of production taxes for chicken due to health issues. This industry is going to monitor sharply in coming years with regulations.
TAFL performance has down compare to last year and will continue further.

Dear Teller,

Now I understand the basis of your forecasts on GRAN.

The single most important thing you said is" I don't like the animal industry" and you are switched off to animal industry and no longer love the businesses operating in that industry.

One of the cardinal rules in sound investing is, "Never touch a business which you don't like. Always invest in a business from an industry which you love and understand".

I shall extend this fundamental rule further to say, "Do not rely on forecasts or investing advice given on a particular stock by a person who doesn't like nor believe the industry that business is in".
