Can anyone explain the nature. If a person has 5 shares will he get 5 shares each in the spin offed companies while retaining the 5 shares in lgl. Share price went up like a rocket, but still can't understand that the deal benefits existing shareholders

With this restructure what will happen is that the shareholding of these Non Core Subsidiaries will move out from LGL and the new shareholders will be the Hold Co of LGL and the General Public who are holding shares in LGL at present who will get the shares for free-The benefit to the shareholders of LGL is that the free shares they so obtained are now easily encashable as the non core cos are listed
The Net Profit to the shareholders of LGL will be the sale proceeds of the shares they got in the non core cos less the cost of buying additional LGL Shares to get the entitlement to the free shares .Alternatively if one is to sell the LGL shares now the profit will be mkt price movement from the date of the announcement of the restructure to the date of sale of the LGL share
