I see what you are saying- it may be the case!
What has happened is now the bank can use it's connections to materialise the asset in ways the modern financial industry permits.

Dear all, please bear in mind that any financial institute is not provided with provision to use or gain extra benefit over an asset ceased for recovery other than the financial obligation due by the borrower. Iron core or even a entire cave of diamonds found within the property; any balance amount of proceeds by disposing the property above the obliged amount will be returned to the original property owner/mortgagor.

Even if the news is true, HDFC will only be benefited out of the interest portion to be recovered from the loan or what ever the facility.

If anyone is really taking the bait and still want to invest, better to invest with the defaulter to repay the facility and ask them for a reasonable share from proceeds of iron core or a portion of land rather than investing in a share with extremely misleading information.
