If a public listed company does not publish its annual accounts within 3 months of the due date its shares are suspended according to regulations.  How ever the SEC which regulates the Stock Market has not yet published even its 2017 annual accounts almost one year after its due date. The 2018 annual report will also fall due in May 2019 and at the current rate it is highly unlikely it will be published on time. This  shows that not only the politicians in the current government but also its officials are highly incompetent.  Which foreign investor will invest in this market when SEC cant even get its anual accounts published  for so long ? In 2014 the Colombo Stock Market was rated the most sustainable stock exchange in Asia. No wonder now it has become the weakest in Asia.
